This policy explains how Furnace Repair Barrie (furnacerepairbarry.ca, "we", "us") collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you visit this website, call us or send us a service request. We follow Canada's federal private-sector privacy law, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
Who we are and how to reach us
Furnace Repair Barrie helps homeowners in Barrie and nearby Simcoe County communities get help with furnace problems, 24/7.
- Privacy questions and requests: email us at the address below.
- Email: adityaanand980@gmail.com
- Phone: see the number at the top of this page (open 24/7)
What we collect
When you call us
- Your phone number (caller ID), the date and time of the call, how long it lasted, and the number you called.
- What you tell us about your furnace, your home and your town or nearest intersection.
- We do not record calls. Our phone provider (Twilio) keeps a basic call log (the caller's number, the date and time, and how long the call lasted), but not what was said.
When you use the contact form
- Your name and phone number.
- Your email address (optional).
- Your town and, if you choose, your address or nearest intersection.
- The type of problem (for example, no heat or noise), your description, and your preferred callback time.
- Your consent choices, with the date and time you gave them.
When you browse the site
- Basic technical data that web servers and security tools handle automatically: your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you request and the date and time.
- This website doesn't set advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't use third-party analytics that follow you across other websites. If we add analytics or a spam check to the form, we'll update this policy first.
We don't ask for payment information on this website, and we don't knowingly collect information from children.
Why we collect it
We use your information only to:
- Respond to your request: call or text you back, understand the furnace problem and arrange for help.
- Pass your request to the heating technician or service provider who handles it (see "Who we share it with").
- Keep records of calls and requests so we can follow up, answer questions about past service and resolve complaints.
- Improve our service: for example, seeing which pages people find useful.
- Keep the site and form secure and block spam and abuse.
- Meet legal requirements.
We don't sell your personal information. We'll only send promotional emails or texts (such as seasonal tune-up reminders) if you tick the separate, optional box saying you want them. You can withdraw that consent at any time.
Who we share it with
- The heating technician or service provider who responds to your request. Furnace Repair Barrie may pass your request to an independent heating technician or service provider who handles the visit or repair. We share only what they need to help you, such as your name, phone number, location and the problem you described. They may contact you directly, and we require them to protect your information and use it only for your request.
- Service providers that run our systems (they process information for us under contract and may not use it for their own purposes, except as described in their own policies):
- Twilio: phone numbers, call routing, call logs (number, time and duration; no recordings) and texts.
- Cloudflare: website hosting and security.
- Google (Gmail): our email inbox, which receives emails and contact-form requests you send us.
- When the law requires it, for example in response to a valid court order, or to protect someone's safety in an emergency.
- If the business is sold or reorganized, the buyer may receive records so service can continue, under the same protections.
Storage outside Canada
Some of our service providers store or process information outside Canada, mainly in the United States (for example, Twilio's and Google's main processing facilities are in the U.S., and Cloudflare operates a global network). While your information is in another country, it is subject to that country's laws and may be accessed by its courts, law enforcement and national security authorities. We choose providers that commit to protecting personal information, and we stay responsible for information we transfer to them.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as required by law:
- Service requests, emails and call logs: up to 24 months after your last contact with us.
- Consent records and unsubscribe requests: as long as needed to prove consent or respect an opt-out.
- Website security logs: kept by Cloudflare for a short period under its own retention settings.
When we no longer need information, we delete it or make it anonymous.
How we protect it
We use safeguards that suit the sensitivity of the information. These include access limited to people who need it, strong passwords and two-step login on our accounts, encrypted connections (HTTPS), and reputable providers with their own security programs. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected people and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as PIPEDA requires.
Your choices and rights
- Access and correction: you can ask what personal information we hold about you, how we've used it and who we've shared it with, and ask us to correct it. We'll respond within 30 days.
- Withdraw consent: you can withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal or contract limits. For example, we can't arrange service without a way to contact you.
- Stop promotional messages: reply STOP to a text, use the unsubscribe link in an email, or contact us. We'll act within 10 business days.
To make a request, contact us using the details above. We may need to confirm your identity first.
Questions and complaints
If you have a concern about how we handle your information, please contact us first so we can try to fix it. If you're not satisfied, you can file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca or 1-800-282-1376.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our services or the law change. We'll post the new version here with a new "last updated" date. If we make a significant change to how we use information you've already given us, we'll ask for your consent where required.
